San Pedro, CA - August 11, 2008 - Mike Rivero’s work, ranging from strong and vibrant to subtle and serene, reflects his Cuban origin as well as years spent in
Madrid,
New York and
California.
His recent abstracts blend an array of artistic traditions influenced by Robert Rauschenberg, Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning. The three-dimensional collages create symbiotic relationships between electronic meters, album covers, paint lids and color; a dose of whimsy prevails.
“As an expressionistic painter I’m constantly searching for a dance between color and composition. When it comes to figurative work it’s about attitude and expression,” said Rivero. “The purpose is to establish an intimate dialogue between my art and the spectator.”
Rivero's paintings hang in many private collections throughout the United States and Europe. His studio is located at
414 W. 6th Street, San Pedro 90731, (310)720-3407;
